In the 1950s, at the age of 22, I lived in a time when wives were expected to defer to their husbands' opinions and desires. During the first year of my marriage, I enrolled in an art class at the Museum of Modern Art here in New York City and was eager to explore my creative spirit. When I began sharing my work with my new husband, he dismissed it outright, insisting I should abandon the class. I gave in to his judgment and walked away from something I loved. Seventy-three years later, at the age of 95, my dearest friend Whitney offered me a safe, nurturing space to rediscover that long-silenced part of myself. With her encouragement, I picked up a paintbrush once more and the result is this scarf: “PEACE.”

A celebration of resilience and joy, PEACE is a vibrant reminder that creativity knows no age.
