Celebrating Barbara's 97th Birthday and Bloomin' Wild Beginnings

Whitney Glandon

This past week, we had the joy of celebrating Barbara’s 97th birthday—a truly wonderful day for a truly fabulous person. Surrounded by love, laughter, and a little cake, we honored not only her incredible birthday but also her beauty inside and out, her boundless creativity and inspiring spirit.

Barbara continues to amaze me—not just with her warmth and wisdom, but with her art. Her journey reminds us daily that it’s never too late to create something beautiful. If you haven't seen our spring collection Untamed Spring check it out. Barbara has 4 scarves designed from her latest paintings.

We’re thrilled to introduce our latest silk scarf collection: Bloomin’ Wild—a vibrant, freeing series of abstract florals designed from my newest paintings. These pieces are a celebration of vibrant color in motion, inspired by nature unbound and petals dancing in the breeze. Each scarf is a wearable burst of joy and energy—perfect for this season of renewal.

We’ve also added Unleashed Petals and Petals in the Wild—to our collection of matted 11x14 giclée prints, now available on our website. Whether you wear the art or hang it on your wall, we hope it brings a sense of color, movement, happiness and joy into your space.

As part of our celebration, I did what I love most—photographing Barbara. Of course, I had to do special birthday portraits to mark the occasion. Capturing her at 97, full of grace and beauty, was an absolute joy. These portraits are completely unretouched—yes, she really looks that great! Her natural beauty, elegance, and light shine through. It’s always an honor to photograph her, and this birthday was no exception.

And there’s more to feel good about: every order placed with us plants three trees in Sub-Saharan Africa through Forest Gardens. This initiative helps farmers restore the land, grow organic crops, feed their families and communities, and improve the climate. It's a small act with a meaningful ripple effect—and we're proud to be a part of it.

Even though spring has been slow to warm up, we know that blooms are just around the corner… and so is summer. As we look ahead, we’re feeling grateful—for new beginnings, creative growth, and the inspiring women (like Barbara!) who remind us to live and bloom boldly at any age.

At Inspired Floral Designs NYC, we’re proud to be a made-to-order company, embracing the philosophy of waste not, want not. Every piece is ethically, responsibly, and sustainably made—with intention and care. We don’t mass produce; instead, we create each item with purpose, reducing waste and honoring both people and the planet. It's our way of making beauty more meaningful.

Here’s to friendship and many more beautiful creations to come.

With love and flowers
